Soft start devices (UPP) are electrical devices designed for soft start and stop of electric motors (ED), as well as for the implementation of switching modes during start–up (stop).
The basis of the UPP is a thyristor voltage regulator (TRN) – a static electronic device that limits the rate of voltage rise and starting currents when starting the ED by changing the angles of unlocking the thyristors. The TRN implements the phase control principle. In each phase, a counter-parallel inclusion of thyristors is used.
